College Factual says Oglethorpe is “best of the best” in diversity and focused English program

The 2020 College Factual College rankings have Oglethorpe University among the top tier of schools nationwide in diversity and “focused” programs.

Publications like U.S. News & World Report and Washington Monthly have recognized the university for its diversity, and now College Factual ranks Oglethorpe in the top 15% of colleges. The ranking measures ethnic, geographic and male-to-female diversity, and is a valuable consideration for students evaluating prospective colleges because “being part of a school with a highly diverse student population means exposure to new ideas, cultures, and opportunities.”

As in past years, the rankings also evaluate popular majors to determine where colleges are “most focused,” and therefore likely provide a better education as compared to those that do not. In these majors categories, Oglethorpe was ranked in the top 1% for English Language & Literature, in the top 5% in Biopsychology, Writing Studies, and Philosophy, in the top 10% in History, and in the top 15% in Drama & Theater Arts.

College Factual is a college choice resource that evaluates more than 1,700 four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. to create annual rankings based on quality, value and other factors. Its ranking methodology focuses on outcomes such as student loan default rates and early and mid-career earnings from each college, as well as graduation and retention rates.
