Professor of Japanese Dr. Robert Steen was recently chosen as one of 15 professors nationwide to take part in a three-day seminar at Transylvania University

Now in its 13th year, The Transylvania Seminar is highly competitive, with candidates submitting a statement on liberal education, after first being nominated by the president and academic dean at their own institutions.

This year’s seminar, Liberal Education: Approaching the Digital drew professors from some of the nation’s nationally ranked liberal arts colleges including Vassar, Rhodes and Bard colleges. The seminar sought to contribute to a national conversation on the idea of liberal education and the mission of the liberal arts college amidst the extraordinary possibilities, as well as the potential pitfalls, created by digital technologies.

LEXINGTON, Ky.-A seminar to foster national dialogue about the role of the liberal arts in the digital age kicked off today at Transylvania University.
