Oglethorpe launches digital diplomas for new graduates

Oglethorpe University has partnered with CeCredential Trust, a digital credentialing company, to offer digital diplomas to graduates, starting with the Class of 2024.

The new service is free to graduates and will complement, not replace, printed diplomas distributed on commencement day.

These certified electronic credentials — also known as CeDiplomas — allow graduates to instantly show proof of their education in a verifiable, secure way.

The PDF digital diploma may be saved on multiple devices and added directly to a resume. It also allows for unlimited sharing with family, friends and employers, and can even be shared on social media, such as LinkedIn. Employers can use digital diplomas to easily validate credentials in seconds, directly from a graduate’s alma mater. For security purposes, the electronic credential cannot be printed.

“I’m excited to be able to offer the CeDiploma at Oglethorpe,” said Oglethorpe’s Assistant Provost and Registrar Ed Rosser. “It is a useful tool that we are making available at no additional cost and just one example of how we’re looking to improve and expand services for our graduates.”

Members of the Class of 2024 who graduated in December were emailed links to their digital diplomas in early February. New graduates will automatically receive an email the week after this year’s May 18 commencement with a link for downloading their credential from partner CeCredential Trust. The notification will be sent to all email addresses on file for each graduate, who can also request the link to be resent from CeCredential Trust site in the future.

More information about the new digital diploma service is available on the Oglethorpe commencement website and at CeCredential Trust. Questions? Please contact [email protected].
