Congressional candidate Jon Ossoff speaks on campus

Oglethorpe University’s College Democrats hosted Georgia’s Democratic 6th District candidate, Jon Ossoff, drawing a capacity crowd in the Turner Lynch Campus Center today, despite the inclement weather.

Oglethorpe alumna and Georgia State Representative Dar’shun Kendrick ’04 was on hand to help welcome Ossoff and his campaign team to campus.

Ossoff is running to replace previous 6th district representative Tom Price, who now serves as Secretary of Health and Human Services, in a special election on April 18th.

Ossoff has gained wide acclaim throughout greater Atlanta, garnering endorsements from Georgia Representative John Lewis and others. He and his campaign have been featured in nationwide publications, such as The New York Times, The New Yorker, and NPR among others. Before running for office, he served as the CEO of an anti-corruption investigative firm, and has run a grass-roots campaign focused on removing abuse, waste, and corruption in politics.

During the event, Ossoff spoke about his campaign, values, and goals and answered questions from the crowd filled with students, alumni, faculty, staff, community members and national media.
