New award-winning documentary features FDR's historic Oglethorpe commencement speech

On September 21, Georgia Public Broadcasting will premiere the award-winning documentary "A President in Our Midst: Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Georgia," based on a book of the same name. FDR had many Georgia connections, including Oglethorpe. He delivered the university's 1932 Commencement speech, historically significant as the beginning of the future President’s New Deal aspirations. In the speech, FDR said: "We need the courage of the young. Yours is not the task of making your way in the world, but the task of remaking the world which you will find before you." The film recently won Best Documentary and Best Picture (People's Choice) at the Southern Film Festival.
