Humans of Oglethorpe: Dr. Jay Lutz

Dr. Jay Lutz
Professor of French

(31 years at Oglethorpe!)

“I believe very strongly in the importance of connecting the classroom to activities in the wider community.”

Dr. Jay Lutz“One of the things that attracted me to this job was its position in Atlanta.

I have been able to arrange for students to go to a range of French-related events and field trips.

I believe very strongly in the importance of connecting the classroom to activities in the wider community. So, I try to do that as often as I can, and that’s a big advantage here in Atlanta.

There are so many opportunities. Usually small liberal arts colleges are in very remote places and you have very limited opportunities. Dr. Chandler and I have taken many classes on trips to learn and volunteer.

One of my favorite trips we have gone on is Amelia Island…”

Humans of Oglethorpe was created by a Pegasus Creative student intern in University Communications at Oglethorpe. Inspired by Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton, this series will share personal stories and perspectives from across campus. Everyone has a story and everyone is human.
