To bolster academic success this year, Oglethorpe’s Office of Student Success has unveiled the Learning Support Center—a dynamic new space dedicated to enhancing student support.
The Learning Support Center is a hub that connects students with peer instructors for tutoring and peer coaches for time management strategies. It also serves as a comfortable environment for students with registered accommodations to take exams, as well as a collaborative meeting space to strategize new ways to drive student success.
Thanks to a grant from The Goizueta Foundation, the center is furnished and designed with functionality and personalized learning in mind. The furniture in the space includes moveable tables, chairs and couches that can be easily rearranged to suit individual learning preferences. With a smart television, various whiteboards and ample power outlets, the center equips students with the tools they need to thrive.
“I would love the new Learning Support Center to be used as a place to study, learn and build community,” says Senior Director of Student Success Dr. Vivian Medrano.
“I want the center to contribute to our students’ sense of belonging; where they can feel comfortable, receive academic support from their peers, and help build their self-confidence. I truly hope students enjoy the new space.”
Students can access the center through the lower level of Robinson, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
