Oglethorpe University President Kathryn McClymond was named one of the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 20 Women of Influence award winners for 2024.
Recognized for her significant professional accomplishments and community involvement, President McClymond will be honored during a special ceremony Oct. 17 at the Guardian Works in Atlanta.
“Our intent is to identify professionals making an impact in their field,” the Atlanta Business Chronicle report on the awards stated. “In this case, the Women of Influence committee acted as a resource. The newsroom weighed its feedback and used it to determine final selections. The newsroom maintained complete independence in making our selections.”
The judging committee — consisting of previous Women of Influence honorees — examined nearly 300 nominations and chose 20 of the most influential businesswomen from different industries and professions in metro Atlanta.
President McClymond is the first Oglethorpe staff member to receive this honor.
“I’m grateful to be on this list,” President McClymond said. “These are remarkable leaders in our community. I think this as much about the influential role Oglethorpe University fills in Atlanta as anything I’ve done individually, and I truly believe this recognition belongs to all the women through the years who have established Oglethorpe as Atlanta’s premier undergraduate learning experience.”
