Personal finance company WalletHub has included Oglethorpe University in its 2024 list of Best Colleges & Universities, an evaluation of 800+ institutions to assess “where prospective students can expect to receive top-notch education at the lowest price points.”
For this ranking, WalletHub considered more than 30 key measures in seven categories: Student Selectivity; Cost and Financing; Faculty Resources; Campus Safety; Campus Experience; Educational Outcomes; and Career Outcomes. The metrics ranged from student-faculty ratio to graduation rate to post-attendance median salary.
In addition to the comprehensive rankings list, WalletHub also prepares separate rankings to distinguish colleges and universities. Among the U.S. colleges evaluated, Oglethorpe is ranked 55th — and 9th within the Southern region — and stood out in Campus Safety (12th) and Cost and Financing (23rd).
Colleges on this list primarily confer bachelor’s degrees and have relatively smaller class, campus and enrollment sizes, enabling them to offer more focused attention from instructors and a more personal social setting than larger universities.
The WalletHub ranking follows similar recent accolades for Oglethorpe from Princeton Review, U.S. News, Fiske Guide and Washington Monthly.
A personal finance company that seeks to empower consumers to lead financially healthy lives, WalletHub provides a number of services and tools to compare — in addition to colleges and universities — credit card offers, personal loans, car insurance companies, and checking accounts.
