Student research fund now accepting applications

Research funding is available to Oglethorpe undergraduates, thanks to the Philip Weltner Library student research development fund, established in 2016.

Students may apply annually for funding to defray costs incurred while conducting or presenting research. Eligible uses of the funds include attending conferences, research-related equipment, and project and logistical expenses.

Nearly 50 stipends have been awarded since 2016. In past years, students have used the funding within a wide range of disciplines, including biology, art history, English, chemistry, linguistics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, theatre, and philosophy.

All students are eligible to apply, with the exception of those already receiving stipends through the Honors Program. The deadline to apply online is Friday, November 18, 2022.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee comprised of Eli Arnold, Dr. James Goodenberger, Chamyre Hynson, Dr. Kathryn McClymond, Derek Otis, Dr. Karen Schmeichel, and Dr. Justin Wise.
