Students explore digital marketing at top Atlanta agency

Vert, an award-winning full-service digital marketing and advertising agency, recently hosted Oglethorpe students interested in pursuing communications careers.

The Oct. 7 event was sponsored by Oglethorpe’s PRSSA chapter (Public Relations Student Society of America), advised by Dr. Kate Keib, assistant professor of communication studies, and planned in collaboration with Vert’s Head of People and OU alumna Debbie Aiken ’12.

A start-up founded in 2009, Vert is now a growing agency with more than 40 employees that specializes in mobile, social, emerging media, and brand experiences. Their clients have included include top brand names like the Weather Channel, Sweetwater, Mellow Mushroom, RaceTrac—and Oglethorpe University.

During their visit, students toured the Vert offices, learned about various roles within the agency—including student internships—and received advice about entering the digital marketing field. The Vert team also shared a case study about their work with national restaurant chain First Watch to launch Purple Haze, a signature drink menu item.

PRSSA is open to any Oglethorpe student. This student professional organization encourages the understanding of the current theories, principles and procedures in the practice of public relations; provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with their peers who are interested in communication professions and with professional practitioners; and encourages students to embody a professional attitude while adhering to the utmost ideals and practice of public relations.
