Supporting service members and veterans at Oglethorpe

As a yellow ribbon school, Oglethorpe University is proud to support service members and veterans through tuition discounts.

The Yellow Ribbon Program helps pay for some out-of-state, private school, or graduate school tuition that the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn’t cover. Prospective students can find out if they are eligible for the program and view participating schools, including Oglethorpe, through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website. Veterans eligible for full benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill pay zero tuition.

While financial support helps service members and veterans access a college education, Oglethorpe also provides assistance to ensure these students achieve their academic goals and experience a smooth transition to college.

At Oglethorpe, students aren’t just a number. The Oglethorpe experience focuses on each individual early on in the admission process. That individual focus continues as students set foot on campus, thanks to Oglethorpe’s small class sizes and faculty-to-student ratio. Small classes allow students to benefit from thought-provoking discussions and have their voices heard in an atmosphere conducive to sharing and learning.

Not only do service members and veterans receive financial assistance, but Oglethorpe also offers support to help with a smooth transition to college and ensure success in the classroom. Small class sizes allow students to benefit from thought-provoking discussions and have their voices heard in an atmosphere conducive to sharing and learning. Veterans also have the opportunity to attend classes with other adults through Oglethorpe’s Adult Degree Program.

The Center for Student Success also provides support services for all students, including academic advising and writing assistance, while the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion helps those who need disability accommodations. Additionally, the Counseling Center offers a variety of individual, group, emergency, and outreach services designed to meet the specific needs of every student.
