Featured speakers included Dawn Arnold, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Invest Atlanta; Ibrahiim Bayaan, economist with CBRE Econometric Advisors; Adrian Garcia, senior credit analyst with Invesco’s Emerging Markets team; and Carlos Herrera, chief economist for Coca-Cola North America Foodservice and On-Premise division.

UPS Enterprise Program Manager Amy Russ ’10, an Oglethorpe Economics Honors graduate, moderated the event that was designed to help students better understand the economics field and provide networking opportunities.

“The panel discussion focused on the changing role of economics in business and in part was aimed at explaining to students across OU  what economics is and what economists do,” explained Dr. Peter Kower, professor of economics and Economics Club advisor.

The panel was part of seminar series sponsored by a working group of local universities, including Georgia Tech and Spelman College, and is supported by the Atlanta Economics Club and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

The Economics Club hosted a viewing party for the popular event, which was attended by nearly 30 students, with an additional 60+ students joining the webinar virtually.
