The athletics department has introduced this program as a fun way for the entire Oglethorpe community to get active and participate in athletic competitions in a supportive social environment.

“Intramurals offer a great way to build relationships across campus, while taking part in friendly competitions,” said Men’s Basketball Coach Philip Ponder.

“Most of our students don’t have the opportunity to compete in athletics at the NCAA level, so we’re looking forward to providing an additional way for anyone on campus to take part in some of their favorite games and activities.”

Intramurals kick off the week of September 20 with flag football and more events are scheduled soon after:

  • College football and NFL “pick the winner” begins the weekend of September 25.
  • A cornhole tournament will take place Friday, September 24 (time TBD).
  • Tuesday Night Tennis begins in late September/early October. Tennis will be free, open play with no sign-up needed. Participants should bring their own racquet.

The deadline to sign up to compete in these events is September 16. Those interested can sign up and learn more at the registration table located outside the dining hall during lunch hours.

Additional intramural events will be offered in the future, including wiffleball, co-ed volleyball, basketball, ultimate frisbee and dodgeball. Be on the lookout for updates about future events and registration details.
