Dr. Jay Lutz to deliver Last Lecture: “Drawn to Teaching, a Profession and a Calling”

Oglethorpe’s Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society has invited Dr. Jay Lutz to deliver this year’s Last Lecture, in recognition of his esteemed career at Oglethorpe. Each year, one extraordinary Oglethorpe speaker is invited to give a “last lecture” on a topic of their choosing.

Dr. Lutz’s address, “Drawn to Teaching, a Profession and a Calling,” will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. Dr. Lutz is retiring at the end of this academic year.

Dr. Lutz has been a French and Core professor at Oglethorpe for 33 years and is currently the Frances I. Eeraerts ’76 Professor of Foreign Language. He received his master’s and doctorate from Yale University and his undergraduate degree from Antioch University. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards and has published papers on his research and work.
