Business alumnus donates supplies to help on-campus Petrels

As Oglethorpe prepared to welcome back more students and resume some in-person classes this semester, the university needed to ensure there were enough sanitization supplies to support the growing population on campus.

Thanks to alumnus Brick Faucette ’08, that transition was made a little easier.

Faucette is President and COO of Reliable Paper, a family-owned small business out of Acworth, Georgia that offers janitorial, restaurant, food service, home and office needs.

After graduating from Oglethorpe with a degree in business administration, he began working at his family’s fast-growing company as a Director of Major Accounts, where he built the company’s relationship with other businesses. Since January 2020, Faucette has been at the head of the company, whose website proclaims to follow “the Golden Rule”.

In December, he put that rule into effect when he connected with his alma mater to donate a generous amount of COVID-19 safety supplies courtesy of Reliable Paper. These included disinfecting wipes, face masks, touch-free dispensers and hand cleaner.

“I figured we could use our position to help better equip the University with supplies that are now the new norm,” said Faucette.

Working with Assistant Vice President of Campus Operations Lance Knight to deliver these supplies to campus, Faucette provided sanitizing products that are currently used by the nearly 400 on-campus residents and an additional 340 commuter students who attend in-person classes, study on campus and participate in extracurriculars.

“The university and the people living and working on campus need to wash their hands and wipe down surfaces multiple times each day,” said Knight. “The supplies were an immensely helpful contribution to the health and well-being of our community.”

While at Oglethorpe, Faucette was an involved student-athlete. He was a tennis player and a broadcaster for the Petrel Sports Network, an audio livestream of home athletics. After graduating, he started his own custom sports apparel brand, KBS Apparel, which caters to kickball teams. He is highly active in the kickball community, founding Kickball 365, a national kickball circuit for women’s and co-ed teams, which he markets and runs.
