Oglethorpe Day 2021 in review

Oglethorpe Day was celebrated a little differently this year — but there was still plenty of spirit! The annual tradition was commemorated virtually on Facebook and across social media.

During the Oglethorpe Day celebration, SGA President Taylor Roberts ’21 announced that the Oglethorpe Archives will be accepting new submissions to university’s decennial time capsule, which was opened and resealed in February 2020—before we knew how the rest of the year would play out. The goal is to make a time capsule that captures a better “snapshot” of 2020. Students can submit letters, video messages and any items they feel reflect the past year. Submissions close on February 28.

Andrew Farber ’24, Elina Malancea ’24, Omar Bryant ’22 and Sam Hunt ’22 (as Petey) participated in the 31st annual Petrels of Fire race this year.

Using the hashtag #OglethorpeDay2021, students took to the internet to share their Petrel Pride. Enjoy some of the highlights below.
