Economics major earns position with New York Federal Reserve

Fatima Boumahdi ’21

While she completes studies in her senior year, Fatima Boumahdi ’21 also holds down a part-time job at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. After graduation, she will be working as a senior research analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she will be part of the microeconomics team of four economists and another research analyst.

“The position will help me better my research and programming skills before applying to Ph.D. programs in economics,” said Boumahdi, who had several job offers from which to choose. “I am very excited for the opportunity and what it has in store for me!

“We are so very proud of her hard work and success,” said Cassandra Copeland, Ph.D., professor and chair of economics. “Fatima has been highly dedicated to the study of economics, served as the President of the Economics Club and our Economics Program tutor, and engaged in the university community.”

Last summer, Boumahdi was accepted into the highly competitive American Economics Association Summer Scholarship Program.
