The funds will benefit financial aid for students from Mexico or students of Mexican origin who are currently enrolled at Oglethorpe. Chris Summers ’03, director of financial aid, accepted on behalf of Oglethorpe at a ceremony held last semester at the Mexican Consulate.

Oglethorpe was selected by a local committee to receive the funds.

The government of Mexico allocates funds to this program which can be complemented by other organizations that also support the educational advancement of Hispanic students.

“We thank you for your commitment to support the development and personal well-being of Mexicans living in the U.S. through education programs,” commented Consul General F. Javier Díaz de León.
