Student research fund now accepting applications

Research funding is available to Oglethorpe undergraduates, thanks to the Philip Weltner Library student research development fund, established in 2016.

Students may apply annually for funding to defray costs incurred while conducting or presenting research. Eligible uses of the funds include attending conferences, research-related equipment, and project and logistical expenses.

Nearly 30 stipends have been awarded since 2016. In past years, students used the funding within a wide range of disciplines, including art history, chemistry, linguistics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, and Buddhist philosophy.

All students are eligible to apply, with the exception of those students already receiving stipends through the Honors Program. The deadline to apply online is Friday, December 11, 2020.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee comprised of Dr. Lea Alford, Dr. Beth Concepcion, Dr. Nick Bujak, Ms. Alyssa Kowis, Dr. Karen Schmeichel, Dr. Glenn Sharfman and Dr. Justin Wise.
