ODK leadership honor society now accepting applications

Omicron Delta Kappa, a highly selective national leadership honor society, recognizes and encourages superior leadership and exemplary character.  The Oglethorpe Circle of ODK is now accepting applications for membership from eligible students.

Founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, ODK honors and develops leaders through scholarships, workshops, career opportunities, leadership resources, and a lifelong connection to other members. The society also champions its ideals (or pillars) of scholarship, service, integrity, character, and fellowship.

Oglethorpe University’s ODK Circle was reestablished in 1976 and remains a vital, thriving part of the campus today. Initiation into the ODK Circle is one of the highest honors an Oglethorpe student can achieve.

Students eligible to apply must be:

  • Juniors or seniors OR students in their third or fourth year at Oglethorpe
  • Students without any honor code violations
  • Students in the top 35% of their class
  • Students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities in two or more of the five pillars of academic life as defined by the Society

Interested student may apply online on the national ODK website. Applicants will be asked to submit an essay in response to the question: “To what extent do you feel like you uphold the pillars of ODK and why?” Response to the essay is central to the application evaluation. Applications will be reviewed in January.
