Civic engagement scholars kick off voter awareness efforts

National Voter Registration Day is Tuesday, September 22—get registered and ready to vote in November!

With fewer than two months until election day, Oglethorpe University’s A_LAB is hosting a virtual voter awareness series. These efforts, led by Civic Engagement scholars, will provide non-partisan programming and educational resources to help students get involved in the voting process.

The series kicks off this week with a voting “how to” virtual session on Thursday, September 17 (which also happens to be Constitution Day, an annual commemoration of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution!) Pop in to this guided session, where Civic Engagement Scholars will be available to answer questions related to registering, absentee and mail-in ballots, tracking registration, where to vote, and more.

The voter awareness series will also inform and educate students about the issues confronting society today and how to make your vote count.

Through OU Connect, students can also access State Voting Guides, created by Oglethorpe Civic Engagement scholars. Individual voting guides for each state represented by the Oglethorpe student body are available. They include general information and links regarding registration process, deadlines, and early and absentee voting.

With many more events planned to keep Oglethorpe students informed—including special speakers and community forums—be sure to visit OUConnect to stay up-to-date on the latest voting programming.
