The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) named the Oglethorpe men’s golf team to their all-academic list this week, making the Stormy Petrels one of 39 Division III teams, and one of 250 total teams across divisions, to earn the distinction.

In order to garner the recognition, programs needed to accrue a minimum team GPA of 3.0 over the course of the 2019-20 season.

The group was led academically by a pair of sophomores, as Isley McClure and Justin Rickerson earned All-America Scholar honors from the coaches after accumulating GPAs of at least 3.2 and scoring averages of 79 strokes or fewer per round.

It marked the third time that the program earned all-academic team recognition, as they also took the honor in 2012 and 2015.

The Petrels was one of three Southern Athletic Association teams to earn all-academic honors, joining Berry and Rhodes.
