Video: Dear Professor – Dr. Janelle Pham and Syeda Bano ’20

Graduating seniors from the Class of 2020 were asked to write a letter to the Oglethorpe professor who impacted them the most. Watch as those professors read letters from their students and share a moment together.

Syeda Bano ’20 is a Politics and Sociology double major and plans to attend law school now that she has graduated. Throughout her tenure, Bano has been recognized for her many achievement both inside and outside the classroom. Bano recently received the two highest honors given to graduating seniors: The Mary Mildred Sullivan Award, awarded to a graduating senior who has committed herself to serving the community, and the James Edward Oglethorpe Award, which recognizes a graduate who, in the opinion of the faculty, has excelled in scholarship, leadership and character.

Bano cites Dr. Janelle Pham, assistant professor of sociology, her thesis advisor, as her favorite professor at Oglethorpe. Despite only being at OU for two years, Pham has made an impact on many students. Pham thinks highly of Bano as well: “She’s everything that you would want a student to be.”
