Video: Dear Professor – Dr. Sarah Terry and Lexi Covalsen ’20

Graduating seniors from the Class of 2020 were asked to write a letter to the Oglethorpe professor who impacted them the most. Watch as those professors read letters from their students and share a moment together.

This year, Lexi Covalsen ’20, an English and Comparative Literature major, was awarded the Davies-Jackson Scholarship to pursue a second Bachelor of Arts degree at St. John’s College at the University of Cambridge. She is one of only two students to receive the scholarship which covers the full cost of the program.  Additionally, Covalsen was recently named Oglethorpe’s 2020 Outstanding Senior in English.

Covalsen credits Dr. Sarah Terry, associate professor of English, as a tremendous help throughout the scholarship application process. She fondly remembers being in and out of Dr. Terry’s office as she worked through her long essays for the program.

“I know I would not be where I am today without all the support I’ve received from Oglethorpe,” said Covalsen. “I would also not have been able to achieve this opportunity to study at Cambridge without the guidance and community my professors and fellow Ogles have given me these past four years.”
