Oglethorpe to celebrate student excellence April 16-17

Oglethorpe will once again present its annual celebrations of academic excellence—this year online.

The Liberal Arts and Sciences Symposium (LASS), Posters of Research in Science and Mathematics (PRISM), and Hammack School of Business internship presentations will all be presented virtually on April 16-17.

An academic tradition, LASS and PRISM showcase the exemplary scholarly work produced by Oglethorpe students under faculty mentorship. These sessions provide a forum for students and faculty to present, discuss, and learn from outstanding student endeavors.

Thursday’s line-up includes poster sessions on a range of research topics, including communications and community, energy and exoplanets, and epigenetics and the environment. A series of musical performances accompanied by scholarly presentations take place following the poster sessions.

The event continues on Friday with oral presentations from 2:30-6:15 p.m., including Honors Program presentations, and covering topics such as literature, science, social issues and more.

In addition to the LASS and PRISM virtual sessions, the Hammack School of Business will also host a series of virtual presentations where 13 students will share insight into their spring internship experiences with top employers, such as The Walt Disney Company, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Ecolink, and more. The Friday, April 17 presentation starts at 1 p.m.
