Women’s Basketball

Women’s basketball advances to second round of NCAA tournament, sets program record for most wins in season

The Oglethorpe women’s basketball team got off to an excellent start in the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship Friday afternoon, beating the William Peace Pacers 88-74 in Lexington, Kentucky, to advance to the tournament’s second round for the fourth time in program history and second time in as many seasons.

Women’s basketball dances on to sectionals for first time in 11 years, beats Randolph-Macon 71-63 in second round

The Oglethorpe women’s basketball team extended their season by at least another weekend Saturday evening, knocking off the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets 71-63 in Lexington, Kentucky, to advance to the sectional round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship for the first time since 2009 and bump their record to 29-1.

Men’s Tennis

Men’s tennis beats Muhlenberg to continue perfect spring break, improve to 5-1

The Oglethorpe men’s tennis team moved to 5-1 on the season and a perfect 4-0 on their spring break trip with an 8-1 victory over Muhlenberg Wednesday in Kissimmee, Florida. The match got off to an outstanding start for the Stormy Petrels in doubles, as they swept the Mules to take a 3-0 lead in the match.

Men’s tennis completes perfect spring break trip with 9-0 sweep of Houghton

The Oglethorpe men’s tennis team finished off their spring break trip Thursday with a perfect 5-0 record, defeating Houghton 9-0 in Orlando, Florida. The victory improved the team to 6-1 on the season overall. Sophomore Connor Sisson and junior Elijah Bullock got things started with an 8-0 win at No.

Women’s Tennis

Women’s tennis nabs second straight win, triumphs over Muhlenberg 8-1

The Oglethorpe women’s tennis team knocked off Muhlenberg 8-1 to continue their spring break trip with their second win in a row. The Stormy Petrels improved to 2-4 on the season with the victory in Kissimmee, Florida. The Petrels swept their three doubles matches, taking a commanding 3-0 lead into singles.

Women’s tennis blanks Houghton to close out spring break trip

The Oglethorpe women’s tennis team closed out their successful spring break trip with a 3-2 record Thursday with a 9-0 sweep over Houghton in Orlando, Florida. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 3-4 on the season overall. The Petrels got off to an outstanding start in doubles competition.

Men’s Lacrosse

Men’s lacrosse routs JWU-Denver 28-2 on Senior Day

The Oglethorpe men’s lacrosse team earned a program-record 26-goal victory Saturday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, knocking off the JWU-Denver Wildcats 28-2 to improve to 5-4 on the season. They set a program record for most wins in a season with that fifth victory.

Women’s Golf

Women’s golf finishes third at Savannah Invitational

The Oglethorpe women’s golf team continued their outstanding play at the Savannah Invitational Tuesday, posting a final-round score of 21-over-par 309 to finish the tournament in third place at 52-over 628. That put them just 7 strokes back of champions Carnegie Mellon and got their spring season off to an excellent start.

Men’s Golf

Men’s golf ties for 12th to start the spring at the Savannah Invitational

The Oglethorpe men’s golf team was unable to move up the leaderboard at the Savannah Invitational in Tuesday’s final round, falling to 12th place with a 5-over-par 293 and finishing at 5-over 869 for the tournament. That put the Stormy Petrels 36 strokes back of champion Carnegie Mellon.


Baseball splits Saturday doubleheader with Centre

The Oglethorpe baseball team played a pair of tight games against the Centre Colonels in Danville, Kentucky, Saturday, winning the second 3-2 after falling 7-6 on a walkoff hit in the opener. The results moved the Stormy Petrels to 4-10 on the season overall and 1-4 in SAA play.

Baseball falls 10-0, dropping rubber game to Centre

The Oglethorpe baseball team suffered a tough finish to their 3-game SAA series against the Centre Colonels Sunday afternoon, falling 10-0 in eight innings at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Kentucky. The defeat dropped the Stormy Petrels to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in SAA play.
