Men’s soccer shuts out Hendrix 5-0, advances to semifinals of SAA tournament

The No. 19 and top-seeded Oglethorpe men’s soccer team found themselves locked in a tight game with eighth-seeded Hendrix in the early-going Saturday afternoon in the first round of the SAA tournament at the Oglethorpe Track and Field. The Stormy Petrels led 1-0 at halftime, but ran off four goals in the second half to pull away for a 5-0 victory.

Women’s soccer sees season end with 4-0 loss at Rhodes in SAA tournament

The seventh-seeded Oglethorpe women’s soccer team fell to the homestanding second-seeded Rhodes Lynx Saturday in the first round of the SAA tournament in Memphis, Tennessee. Rhodes scored a pair of goals in each half en route to a 4-0 win over the Stormy Petrels, ending the visitors’ season at 9-8 overall.

Men’s cross country finishes third at SAA Championships, four individuals earn top 15 finishes

The Oglethorpe men’s cross country team finished third at the SAA Cross Country Championships in Mount Berry Saturday, earning 60 points to come in just behind second-place Rhodes, 12 back of champion Centre, and 19 ahead of fourth-place Berry. The Stormy Petrels came in with an average time of 26 minutes, 30.06 seconds on the 8-kilometer course.

Women’s Cross Country

Women’s cross country places seventh at SAA Championships

The Oglethorpe women’s cross country team finished seventh Saturday at the SAA Cross Country Championships in Mount Berry, tallying 202 points for the meet. They finished with an average time of 28 minutes, 51 seconds on the 6-kilometer course. The Petrels put one runner in the top half of the field, as freshman Sarah Brummett finished 26th in 25:00.2.

Women’s basketball starts season 19th in coaches’ poll

The Oglethorpe women’s basketball team held down the No. 19 spot in the preseason edition of the NCAA Division III Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, released this week by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. It marked the first time the Stormy Petrels have been ranked in the organization’s preseason poll since coming in at No.
