Ulises Rodriguez garners second SAA weekly award of season

Oglethorpe freshman goalkeeper Ulises Rodriguez earned SAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors from the league office Monday after his performance in the Stormy Petrels’ 4-0 win over Berry, a victory that secured the team’s fifth straight outright SAA regular season title. It served as the second time Rodriguez received the honor in 2019.

Men’s cross country places second in final tune-up prior to conference meet

The Oglethorpe men’s cross country team finished second Saturday morning at the Berry Invitational in northwest Georgia. The Stormy Petrels showed well in their final tune-up before the SAA Championships, scoring 66 points and besting every team in the field other than regional power Emory, including Division I Chattanooga and SAA foes Berry, Sewanee and Millsaps.

Lindsey Bolas earns SAA women’s soccer weekly defensive honor

Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Bolas of the Oglethorpe women’s soccer team was named the SAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Monday for her efforts in the team’s 1-0 extra-time loss to Berry. It marked the second such award for Bolas in 2019 and the third of her career.

Women’s soccer sees valiant effort fall short in 1-0 extra-time loss

The Oglethorpe women’s soccer team fought valiantly for over 104 minutes on Senior Day Saturday at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but a golden goal from the visiting Berry Vikings in the 105th minute, well into the second period of extra time, meant that it was they who went home with all three points, not the Stormy Petrels.

Women’s golf drops to No. 21 in latest coaches’ poll

The Oglethorpe women’s golf team dropped to No. 21 in the latest Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division III Coaches Poll, released Friday by the organization. It marked the third straight poll in which the Stormy Petrels found themselves in the top 25.

Volleyball

Volleyball blanked 3-0 at Sewanee

The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-0 to the homestanding Sewanee Tigers Saturday in Tennessee, losing the sets by scores of 27-25, 25-10 and 25-18. With the loss, the Stormy Petrels fell to 5-18 on the season overall and 0-13 in SAA play.

Volleyball closes SAA regular season play with 3-0 loss at Centre

The Oglethorpe volleyball team closed SAA regular season play Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 defeat to the homestanding Centre Colonels in Danville, Kentucky. Centre jumped on the Stormy Petrels early and then won a couple of tightly-contested sets, winning 25-8, 25-22, 25-19. The result dropped the Petrels to 5-19 overall and 0-14 in SAA play.
