Bethany Malskis, Senior

Major: Biology, Pre-Med track

“That crazy experience made me who I am”

“When I was 14, I moved to Malawi.

That crazy experience made me who I am and ultimately brought me to Oglethorpe.

Bethany
I want to do emergency medicine and take that to other countries who don’t have good healthcare. I’m majoring in Biology on a Pre-Med track because I want to go back and help people where I’m wanted and make a real difference.
The classes at Oglethorpe remind me of my classes back in Malawi because of how small they are. The professors are really preparing me for the MCAT and medical school. I have so many opportunities here to volunteer and it has given me great experiences. … I can’t wait to go back overseas and serve others with the knowledge I’ve gained here.”

Humans of Oglethorpe was created by a Pegasus Creative student intern in University Communications at Oglethorpe. Inspired by Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton, this series will share personal stories and perspectives from across campus. Everyone has a story and everyone is human.
