Women’s golf moves up to 12th in latest coaches’ poll

The Oglethorpe women’s golf team moved all the way up to the No. 12 slot in the latest Division III Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Coaches Poll, marking the highest spot they’ve attained in the ranking. The Stormy Petrels held down the No. 17 spot in the organization’s preseason poll and reached a high of No.

Women’s soccer staves off Wesleyan comeback, wins on late goal for best start in program history

The Oglethorpe women’s soccer team is off to the best start in program history, a 7-0 mark, after outlasting the Wesleyan Wolves 3-2 in Macon Sunday evening. The Stormy Petrels nabbed two early goals only to see Wesleyan storm back and tie the game early in the second half.

Women’s soccer continues outstanding start, bests Agnes Scott 2-0

The Oglethorpe women’s soccer team equaled their best start to a season since 2010 Wednesday evening, advancing to 6-0 on the campaign with a 2-0 win over the visiting Agnes Scott Scotties at the Oglethorpe Track and Field. The Stormy Petrels have yet to allow a goal over their first six games of the season, a stretch of 540 minutes.

Men’s Soccer:

Men’s soccer runs past Anderson 7-1

The Oglethorpe men’s soccer team got started early and never let up against the visiting Anderson (Indiana) Ravens Friday night, winning 7-1 at the Oglethorpe Track and Field to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Men’s soccer falls to Roanoke 2-0

The Oglethorpe men’s soccer team outshot the visiting Roanoke Maroons and took the initiative for much of the game Sunday afternoon at the Oglethorpe Track and Field, but the visitors bagged a goal in each half and withstood the Stormy Petrel onslaught for a 2-0 win.

Men’s Cross Country:

Men’s cross country finishes sixth at Rhodes College Invitational, second among Division III competition

The Oglethorpe men’s cross country team finished second among Division III teams Saturday at the Rhodes College Invitational. The Stormy Petrels finished sixth overall with 210 points, coming in behind Emory and Division I teams Tulsa, Memphis, Arkansas State and Cincinnati, but ahead of defending SAA champions Rhodes.

Men’s Tennis:

Men’s Tennis at ITA South Regional Championships (Day 2)

The Oglethorpe men’s tennis team continued their stay at the ITA Division III South Regional Championships Friday at the Rome Tennis Center in northwest Georgia. In the main singles consolation draw, junior Alexis Morel fell to North Carolina Wesleyan’s Ingmar Remmerswaal 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.


Volleyball swept by Millsaps and Huntingdon in doubleheader

The Oglethorpe volleyball team had a tough day Sunday at Dorough Field House, losing a pair of matches to fall to 4-7 on the season. The first match of the day was a 3-0 defeat to conference foe Millsaps, dropping them to 0-3 in SAA play on the season.

Volleyball falls to Birmingham-Southern 3-1 in home opener

The Oglethorpe volleyball team fell 3-1 to the visiting Birmingham-Southern Panthers Saturday in their home opener at Dorough Field House. After dropping the first two sets 25-11 and 25-21, respectively, the Stormy Petrels came back with a 25-21 win in the third.

Volleyball falls to No. 5 Berry in straight sets

The Oglethorpe volleyball team found in itself with a tough matchup Wednesday evening, facing off against the No. 5 Berry Vikings on the road in both teams’ SAA opener. The home side controlled the match throughout a 3-0 win, winning sets 25-15, 25-13 and 25-20.
