The Oglethorpe women’s golf team saw a program record-setting five players earn Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar honors this week. Seniors Katie Hanley and Hailey Willman, sophomores Emma Meadows and Angel Sanchez, and freshman Graci Hallenbeck all had cumulative GPAs of 3.5 or better as of the end of the spring semester, making them eligible for the award.
It marked the third such career award for Willman, who took the honor in 2016 and 2018. Sanchez and Meadows each earned their second career WGCA All-American Scholar recognition, while Hanley and Hallenbeck each earned their first.
It marked the second time that Willman and Sanchez earned awards from the WGCA this summer, as both earned All-Region honors from the organization in May. All five Stormy Petrels earned SAA Academic Honor Roll recognition for the 2019 season, while Willman and Sanchez took All-SAA first-team and second-team honors, respectively.
The five Petrels were among 1,097 women’s collegiate golfers to earn All-American Scholar recognition across all levels of competition.
