Addison Irwin earns men’s lacrosse All-SAA honorable mention

Freshman goalie Addison Irwin of the Oglethorpe men’s lacrosse team was named to the All-SAA honorable mention list, as voted by the league’s coaches, Tuesday. It marked the first such award of his career and the first All-SAA accolade for a Stormy Petrel since middie Nathaniel Gillespie took honorable mention in 2017.

Hannah Dattilo takes SAA weekly women’s tennis honor

Junior Hannah Dattilo of the Oglethorpe women’s tennis team earned SAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honors from the league’s coaches Wednesday. It marked the first such honor of her career and the team’s first SAA weekly honor of the season.

The baseball team finished the regular season in sixth after winning its final series against MIllsaps. Their conference tournament starts Friday against Berry in Birmingham, Alabama.

Baseball splits doubleheader with Millsaps, finishes regular season sixth in SAA

The Oglethorpe baseball team completed its 2019 regular season with a doubleheader split in Jackson, Mississippi, against Millsaps Saturday, They defeated the homestanding Majors 13-3 in Game 2 after falling 4-3 in a 10-inning Game 1. The results moved the Stormy Petrels into a tie for sixth in the conference standings after Birmingham-Southern swept previously sixth-place Sewanee in a three-game series in Birmingham, Alabama.

Several women — Arielle Shaw, Nicolette Andrey, Sierra Sieracki — won field events as the women’s and men’s track teams both finished fifth at the Mountain Laurel Twilight Invitational. Both teams compete in the SAA championship on Friday in Conway, Arkansas.

The Oglethorpe track and field teams competed Friday at the Mountain Laurel Twilight Invitational in Sewanee, Tennessee, with both teams finishing fifth at the meet. The women came in fifth out of six team while the men came in fifth out of five.

A win over Berry for the men’s tennis team saw them finish third in the SAA. The women dropped its match and finished seventh in the conference. They play in their conference tournaments Friday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Men’s tennis secures third place in SAA with 7-2 win at Berry

The Oglethorpe men’s tennis team closed its regular season on a high note Monday evening in Rome, coming back from a 2-1 deficit after doubles to sweep all six singles matches and win 7-2. The victory ensured the Stormy Petrels of third place in the SAA at 5-2 in league play and 11-6 overall.

Women’s tennis closes regular season with tight loss at Berry, takes seventh in SAA

The Oglethorpe women’s tennis team closed their regular season with a hard-fought match against Berry on the road in Rome Monday evening, but the homestanding Vikings eventually prevailed 5-4 to break a sixth-place tie in the SAA. The Stormy Petrels conclude their regular season at 1-6 in league play and 8-7 overall, good enough for seventh place in the conference standings.

Men’s golf rallied for a sixth place finish at the Emory Spring Invitational. Both men’s and women’s SAA tournaments start Friday in Dickson, Tennessee.

The Oglethorpe women’s lacrosse team took on a Centre team that beat them by 15 goals earlier in the season in the first round of the SAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship Friday night in Sewanee, Tennessee. The sixth-seeded Stormy Petrels fought valiantly, though, and tied it up in the second half before falling 11-8 to the third-seeded Colonels.
