Oglethorpe’s Liberal Arts & Sciences Symposium to be held April 24

On Wednesday, April 24, Oglethorpe University will hold its annual day-long celebration of student excellence at the Liberal Arts & Sciences Symposium (LASS) and Posters of Research In Science & Mathematics (PRISM).

Dr. Iona Wynter Parks

Day classes are canceled on this date so that all members of the Oglethorpe community may participate.

The symposium features a series of student presentations, panels and performances, beginning with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and poster sessions at 9:00 a.m. in the Turner Lynch Campus Center.

At 10:45 a.m. in the Trustee Room, the keynote address will be delivered by Oglethorpe’s own Dr. Iona Wynter Parks, Lecturer of French. Her address is titled: Performing ‘Heresy’ to Our Systems of Knowing: Moving from the ‘Measure of Man’ to the ‘Measure of the World’. The complete program is available on the website.

Both faculty and students alike would welcome your presence for any or all of the day, and we hope you can join us.

Sincerely,

Glenn R. Sharfman, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
