Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians to perform at Oglethorpe for Women’s History Month

Six colleagues from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert at the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.

“Listen: Works by Women,” a celebration of chamber music written by women, will take over the Skylight Gallery on Sunday, March 24 at 4 p.m. The featured composers.range from Clara Schumann, whose 200th birth anniversary is this fall, to Mary Kouyoumdjian, a young composer living in Brooklyn.

The musicians performing are: Emily Brebach, English horn; Marci Gurnow, clarinet; Julianne Lee, violin; Jessica Oudin, viola; Elisabeth Remy Johnson, harp; and Christina Smith, flute.

The concert is part of the Skylight Concert Series, directed by Dr. Brent Runnels, and presented in conjunction with the exhibition Stories Without an End: Power, Beauty and Wisdom of Women in African Art of the Mehta Collection, on view in the museum through April 21, 2019.

This special chamber performance by Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians is free and open to the public.
