Go Petrels Athletics Update: January 9-15

The men’s basketball team has clawed its way back to a .500 record on the young season after taking a win from Sewanee on Sunday in Dorough Field House. Senior Tom Inungu led the team with 19 points. The Petrels had dropped a game to Centre on Friday.

Men’s basketball rides big first half to 67-60 win over Sewanee

The Oglethorpe men’s basketball team bounced back from Friday’s loss to Centre in a large way Sunday afternoon, running out to a 16-point lead in the first half and holding on down the stretch for a 67-60 upset win over the previously 13-2 Sewanee Tigers at Dorough Field House.

Two wins over the weekend for the women’s basketball team. Friday saw a defensive battle against Centre, but the offense returned Sunday against Suwanee. The team is tied for first in the Southern Athletic Association with Millsaps.

Women’s basketball runs away from Sewanee 73-48

The Oglethorpe women’s basketball team bounced back from their shooting slump in a big way Sunday afternoon at Dorough Field House, sinking over half their shots from the field in the first half en route to a 73-48 victory over the Sewanee Tigers.
