For the first time in 25 years, an Oglethorpe runner represented the school at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. Sophomore Jacob Hadden finished fifth among SAA competitors at the meet.
Sophomore Jacob Hadden of the Oglethorpe men’s cross country team finished 213th out of 280 runners at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships in Winneconne, Wisconsin, Saturday afternoon. The Stormy Petrel runner crossed the finish line of the Lake Breeze Golf Club’s 8-kilometer course in 26 minutes, 17.9 seconds.
Women’s basketball split games between Rose-Hulman and Mary Hardin-Baylor at the Richard Dardenne Memorial Classic in Birmingham, Alabama. They traveled to Covenant Tuesday night and used a big fourth quarter to get back in the win column.
The Oglethorpe women’s basketball team found itself in a fight Tuesday evening against the homestanding Covenant Scots, falling behind by as many as eight points in the second quarter and six points in the third.
Also on the road for a weekend tournament, men’s basketball beat Sage to open the AJ Buchanan Classic in Purchase, New York. The met Manhattanville in the final Sunday.
The Oglethorpe men’s basketball team was outscored 44-34 in the second half by the homestanding Manhattanville Valiants on Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the AJ Buchanan Classic. It allowed Manhattanville to pull to an 82-73 victory, handing the Stormy Petrels their first loss of the season.
