Go Petrels Athletics Update: Sept 27-Oct 3

volleyball

The women’s volleyball team is hosting a BLACKOUT game against no. 23-ranked Berry College at 6 pm Wednesday, October 3, in Dorough Fieldhouse.

The team will be unveiling their new black jerseys, and all attendees are asked to show up in black shirts as well. We encourage everyone to come out, wear black, and support the Stormy Petrels!

From last week’s action, men’s soccer piled up a couple big wins. A home conference game saw an exciting finish as Topher Marshall’s late goal lifted the Petrels over Sewanee 3-2. They got another feather in their caps by beating non-conference Washington (Mo.) on Monday in Tennessee. For the second week in a row, an Oglethorpe player received Southern Athletic Association Player of the Week honors.

While things went well for the men, the women’s soccer team dropped two close contests to Sewanee and Piedmont.

Sophomore Jacob Hadden paced the men’s cross country team at the Sewanee Invitational. Hadden finished first individually at the event, and the team won the invitational as well.
