Making a Petrel (MAP) Day brought incoming students to campus for the first time this summer. The event allows new Petrels to discuss class schedules with a Advisor, see on-campus residence halls and get connected with current students and faculty. Parents are also in attendance to learn the ins-and-outs of Oglethorpe so they know what to expect for their new enrollees.
After receiving newly minted Petrel Passes during the morning breakfast and welcome, students separated into small groups for a campus photo scavenger hunt, and team building orientation sessions. More than 120 students and parents were joined by the student orientation leaders for lunch in the Petrel’s Nest before afternoon rotations centered around resources and Student Success. A reception in the TLCC and tours ended the day.
