Dr. Sarah Terry receives 2018 Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award

Dr. Sarah Terry, associate professor of English, received the 2018 Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award at Oglethorpe University’s commencement ceremony on May 12.

Established in 1991, the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Awards honor an outstanding professor on selected member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association. The annual award is presented to a member of the faculty in recognition of excellence in teaching, commitment to student success, and leadership to enhance campus community.

Dr. Terry received her M.A. and Ph.D. in English Literature and Language from the University of Washington at Seattle, and bachelor degrees in English and Music from the University of California at Berkeley. She joined Oglethorpe’s faculty in 2011, previously served as Director of the Honors Program, and currently serves as the Director of the Core Program.

Dr. Terry’s research and teaching interests include British and American modernism, 19th and 20th Century British and American literature, literature and music, history of the novel, and word and music studies.
