Dear Professor: Dr. Mariel Meier

Class of 2018 graduate Iris Ponce writes a letter to Dr. Mariel Meier on the way she influenced her over the last four years. Meier is a physics professor and Ponce majored in physics.

Several Oglethorpe seniors were asked to write a letter to a professor who impacted their lives. Watch those professors read the letters for the first time on camera.

Iris Ponce ’18 is a physics major and perhaps the department’s most ubiquitous student. She is a member of the Society of Physics students, was instrumental in bringing speakers in the science field to campus, and spearheaded the annual Science on the Green. Dr. Mariel Meier, assistant professor of physics, has taught Iris in numerous classes over the past three years, and has gotten to know her as well as a professor can get to know a student.

“I don’t think there’s been a day in the last three years she hasn’t been in my office,” Meier said.
