Announcing the Summer 2018 ESU Dr. Manning Pattillo, Jr. Travel Scholarship

What is the scholarship:

The scholarship supports Summer 2018 Oglethorpe University study abroad programs in England, including the Oxford Shakespeare Course or GO London, with funding sufficient to cover tuition, program costs, and airfare in most cases

Who can apply:

This scholarship is available to Oglethorpe University students in good standing who meet current criteria to study abroad

How to apply: 

Students submit a study abroad application form to the Director of Global Education (Dr. Herschler) in the Global Education office. For those who have not yet submitted a form, it is available from Dr. Herschler or Ms. Boyken.

In addition, students submit a 350 word letter explaining how the program of study about English history, culture, society, politics or economics will contribute to their academic, professional, or personal aspirations.

Review process: 

A review committee will evaluate the applications on the persuasiveness of the student’s letter as well as a broader consideration of their prior academic performance and current financial need.

Student responsibilities:

Students must successfully complete the of program of study and, upon returning to Oglethorpe, give a presentation on their study abroad experience at an English Speaking Union meeting as well as contribute to educating Oglethorpe students about study abroad.
