Student research development fund now accepting applications

Oglethorpe’s undergraduates have access to research funding, thanks to the Philip Weltner Library student research development fund, established in 2016.

Students may apply annually for funding to defray costs incurred while conducting or presenting research. Eligible uses of the funds include attending conferences, research-related equipment, and project and logistical expenses.

All students are eligible to apply, with the exception of those students already receiving stipends through the Honors Program.

The deadline to apply online is Wednesday, November 1, 2017.

Applications will be evaluated by a committee composed of Dr. Lea AlfordEli Arnold ’06, Dr. Beth ConcepciónDr. Glenn Sharfman, Dr. Sarah Terry, and Dr. Justin Wise.

In the fund’s inaugural year, four students were awarded stipends to conduct and present research in art history, chemistry, psychology, and Buddhist philosophy.
