Mr. Matt Huff, Associate Professor and Director of Theatre, received the 2017 Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award. He was recognized at Oglethorpe University’s commencement ceremony on May 13 by last year’s recipient, Dr. Jay Lutz.

Established in 1991, the Vulcan Teaching Excellence Awards annually honor an outstanding professor on selected member campuses of the Georgia Independent College Association. The award is presented to a member of the faculty in recognition of excellence in teaching, commitment to student success, and leadership to enhance campus community.

Huff received a dual undergraduate degree in theater and religion from Emory University, and a master’s from the University of Texas, Austin in directing. Since joining the Oglethorpe family in 2010 as a theatre professor, Huff has also continued to develop and direct productions at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.
