Future in Focus for Photography Student Entrepreneur

Caitlin Tabilog

Caitlin Tabilog ’18, an individually planned major in graphic design, is already developing into quite an entrepreneur.

A member of the Oglethorpe Women’s Varsity Soccer team, Caitlin has been building her own photography business since she was a senior in high school, first finding her place behind the camera while photographing friends, and then quickly expanding to professional gigs. She has won countless photography awards, including first place in a juried art show at the Roswell Visual Arts Center. “I am dedicated to excellence and not interested in being average,” she says.

Caitlin was recently hand-selected for a behind-the-scenes photography session with Brookhaven Mayor Rebecca Williams. Videographer Tim Minors discovered Caitlin’s photography on Oglethorpe’s list of preferred student photographers, after she was recommended by Oglethorpe photography faculty Sigrira Perret-Gentil. Caitlin worked alongside Mayor Williams, as well as other city officials, as they filmed a documentary about Brookhaven Council member Linley Jones in Lupton Auditorium.

While at Oglethorpe, Caitlin says she has gained a great deal of knowledge and skills needed for her business through the CORE program.

“I spent hours learning poses and editing programs,” she said, “but Core 101 taught me how to speak to potential clients and how to express my ideas and articulate these concepts that I had learned.”

After graduation, Caitlin plans to continue her business and expand into photography for businesses.
