Adult Degree Program

Move Ahead at Oglethorpe

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal launched a marketing initiative in 2011 to target residents who have earned some college credit but not completed a degree program. The “Go Back, Move Ahead” campaign is intended to raise college completion rates and prepare Georgia’s workforce to prepare for the availability of new jobs created in the past four years.

By 2020, it is projected that over 60 percent of jobs in Georgia will require a certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree. Presently, approximately 42 percent of the state’s young adults, its burgeoning workforce, are prepared to such a level. To remain competitive, Georgia must not only maintain current graduation levels, but also produce an additional estimated 250,000 graduates in upcoming years.

The “Go Back, Move Ahead” initiative aims to get more adult students to enroll in public educational institutions, but you’ll find the same advantages of a public college at Oglethorpe, with some added benefits.

  1. Comparable tuition rates. Don’t let the fact that our sticker price is higher than public schools’ deter you from seeking an education at Oglethorpe, a private, liberal arts university. Every single adult degree student receives a tuition discount right off the bat, and paired with financial aid opportunities and payment plans, your final cost is not much different than it would be if you attended a public school.
  2. Academic Quality. Many classes in our adult degree program are taught by tenured faculty, something you won’t find at many of our competitors. Small class sizes provide the opportunity for active class discussions and personal attention from professors.
  3. The complete college experience. You won’t attend classes at a satellite campus in the suburbs. Come to our beautiful, 100-acre campus in Brookhaven and enjoy the same campus amenities offered to all students at Oglethorpe. From our library and Academic Success Center to Starbucks and baseball games, you can get as much or as little of the traditional college experience as you want.
  4. Accelerated Schedule. All classes at Oglethorpe are 4 credit hours, (versus the typical 3 credit hour courses offered by other area schools) which means it takes 1/3 fewer classes to complete your degree. Eight-week sessions allow you to complete a full-time course load while concentrating on only two classes at a time.
  5. Support for military service members. Oglethorpe is proud to be a Yellow Ribbon School, offering tuition discounts, on-campus support services and a Veteran’s Club to ensure the success of service members and veterans.Go back to school and move ahead at Oglethorpe. We’re here to help you reach your goal!
