Dr. Peter J. Kower wins 2017 Lu Thomasson Garrett ’52 Award for Meritorious Teaching

Dr. Peter J. Kower, associate professor of Economics, was awarded the Lu Thomasson Garrett ’52 Award for Meritorious Teaching at Oglethorpe University’s Commencement on May 13, 2017. Last year’s recipient, Dr. Robert Hornback, presented the award.

This award was established in 1994 through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. David (Lu Thomasson) Garrett. The late Mrs. Garrett was a 1952 Oglethorpe graduate, an honorary degree recipient, and member emerita of the Board of Trustees. The prize is awarded annually to an outstanding faculty member selected by a committee of his or her peers.

Dr. Kower joined the Oglethorpe faculty in 2002. He earned his B.A. at Arizona State University, an M.I.M. at the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird, an M.A. at the University of Colorado and his Ph.D. at the Ohio State University.
