Student job opening: Digital Production Assistant

Digital Production Assistant, Pegasus Creative, University Communications

As a member of the Pegasus Creative team, the part-time digital production assistant will support full-time staff in University Communications on the development and maintenance of university websites and other digital media. You’ll work right here on campus in the Pegasus suite at University Communications in Goodman Hall using the latest iMacs and digital storytelling tools, surrounded by student and professional colleagues in a fun, creative and professional workplace.

We’re looking for students who are interested in doing serious work that has potential to be seen by millions of online visitors each year. Successful candidates will be reliable, focused and detail-oriented. You need not be a creative genius or a budding artist, but we do expect you to have an eye for clean, usable layouts and adherence to a well-defined brand. Strong attention to detail and technical aptitude are a must. Experience with WordPress preferred, but not required—we will provide the training if you come with the willingness and ability to learn. Familiarity with web content management systems, digital video editing and the Adobe Creative Suite are a plus. Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS are helpful, but not required. Over time, we expect this person to assume greater levels of autonomy in the position—so the ability to manage tasks and time are essential.

Candidates for this position must be in at least their second year of college (first-year students not eligible). Because of the extensive training and mentoring involved, we prefer students who are able to commit to at least one year in the position and are willing to continue beyond that with good performance. The option to work in the summer is also available.

Duties may include, but aren’t limited to:

  1. Regular updates and changes to content on departmental websites.
  2. Content migration and build-out of new websites.
  3. Sourcing and optimization of images for online use.
  4. Editing and creating interactive content features and digital stories using tools such as iMovie, Adobe Spark, FinalCut Pro and a variety of WordPress plug-ins.
  5. Monitoring websites for errors and accessibility issues using Site Improve software.
  6. Support marketing staff in the development of reports in Google Analytics and other tools.

How to apply:

Tell us why you want to join our team! What skills and experience do you bring to the job? Do you have a portfolio or links to work you’ve done (for fun, for work, for class)? How you choose to apply is up to you. We just want to get a glimpse into how you think, communicate and deliver.

No experience yet? That’s okay, too. Tell us why you’re someone we should invest in. We might consider you on a probationary basis for a semester before committing. We’re looking to get the right person who will function as an important member of our team over many more semesters.

To apply, contact us at universitycommunications@oglethorpe.edu or through any of Oglethorpe’s official social media channels.

(Note: We also accept applications on a rolling basis for Pegasus Creative internships for credit or noncredit paid positions. Apply here.)
