Reminders and Information for the Class of 2017
Please check your Oglethorpe email frequently and act promptly on any notice relating to your degree conferral or Commencement participation.
Due By April 30: Degree Application & Completion Fee
In order to graduate, you must: submit a degree application; pay the degree completion fee of $125.00; clear all obligations with the Hub for Enrollment Services and the library; and be in financial, financial aid and conduct good standing. If you have not yet paid the degree completion fee, please do so immediately. This fee may be paid when you submit your application online, or otherwise will be billed to your account.
If you have any doubt that all holds have been cleared from your record, please visit the Hub right away.
May 1, 2:00–6:00 p.m., and May 2, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.: Cap & Gown Distribution, TLCC
Commencement ceremony participants must have appropriate regalia: gown and cap with tassel. If you missed the graduation fair, you can purchase your cap and gown at distribution – a late fee will apply. This is the last opportunity to purchase regalia. Due May 8: RSVP for Commencement Events
RSVP now for all events, including the Carillon Ceremony (May 10, 5:00 p.m.); mandatory Rehearsal (May 11, 6:30 p.m.); President’s Reception (May 12, 4:30 p.m.); and Commencement Ceremony (May 13, 9:00 a.m.). You can also RSVP for your guests and request accessibility accommodations.
May 11, 6:30–7:45 p.m.: Mandatory Rehearsal, Conant Performing Arts Center
Student attendance is imperative. You will receive essential graduation materials, ceremony instructions, and rain tickets for guests in case of an indoor ceremony due to inclement weather. (Guest tickets not required for outdoor ceremony.) If you cannot attend, you may pick up your packet at the Hub for Enrollment Services (Lupton Hall, garden level) during business hours Friday, or at check-in for the President’s Reception Friday evening.
You must take the Career Outcomes Survey in order to receive your graduation packet at rehearsal – please complete this survey in advance. A personalized link was emailed to you on April 13 from Amy Clemente. Please contact her directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need the survey sent to you again.
MAY 13, CHECK IN NO LATER THAN 8:00 A.M.: COMMENCEMENT, Lupton Auditorium
You must check in by 8:00 a.m., Lupton Auditorium (or in case of rain, Schmidt); breakfast provided courtesy of the SGA.
Guests should be seated no later than 8:50 a.m., Academic Quad (or in case of rain, Dorough Field House).
Saved seating is discouraged; empty seats must be relinquished at 8:50 a.m.
The campus area can become congested the morning of graduation. Be sure that you and your guests have plenty of time to park and walk to the ceremony site. (Shuttles are available to transport guests who need assistance from distant parking.)
