Have you checked out Facebook’s latest addition, the “Town Hall” feature? Using this, you can easily contact your elected officials and receive reminders about upcoming local elections in your voting area.

Try it out by going to the “explore” section of your Facebook browser on the left-hand side of the screen. When you click on the “Town Hall” link, Facebook directs you to enter your address. Be sure to enter the address at which you are registered to vote, which may not be your Oglethorpe address! This information will not be shared or displayed anywhere, but will connect you to a page listing all of your local, regional, and federally elected officials who have Facebook pages. You can choose to follow them or not, but most importantly, each page will show information on how to directly contact this representative. This may be via email, Facebook message, or phone call depending on what information the representative has decided to make available.

On top of this, you can also select on the right-hand side to receive reminders for upcoming local, regional, and federal elections in your voting district. Whether you are looking to contact representatives, easily find pages to follow updates, or be more aware of when upcoming elections are, the Facebook “Town Hall” feature is a great and easy way to stay politically engaged!
